Achieving success should have a financial dimension

  success

Success is not something normally taught as part of the curriculum, yet it is something that we recognise and honour when we see it achieved. As educators, we know success can be achieved in many ways and through many paths. Do our students?

This set of lessons includes activities that prompt students to discuss the concept of success generally, and also in the context of using money wisely, with a balanced awareness of self and others, home and community.

Attitudes about money make a difference

  attitude

Money is taught in school, but it is often limited to its identification and later calculations. One of the key drivers of money in society are the attitudes that inform decision-making. For this reason, it is critical that we engage students in discussions that relate to how attitudes towards money are formed and the possible impacts of those attitudes.

This set of lessons includes activities that prompt students to discuss attitudes about money at both a personal and a societal perspective.

Hard work makes a difference

  image

This set of lessons provides an opportunity for secondary students to explore the concept of hard work in various contexts, learning from the experiences of others and considering the connections to their own futures.

It is not a secret. Hard work makes a difference to people’s lives. We don’t tend to teach the concept of ‘hard work’. We should. Teaching it explicitly will help students to understand more fully what hard work looks like and feels like in a range of contexts.
